This collection includes organizational bylaws, financial and
membership records, and newspaper clippings documenting the Bohus
Society of Chicago. Some of the membership records list the birthplace
of the member. HISTORY:
The Bohus Society of Chicago, Illinois (Bohus Föreningen av
Chicago, Illinois) was founded before 1922; the exact date is unknown.
The purpose of the Society was to provide a common meeting place
for the people of Bohus [province] now living in the greater Chicago
area, and to help each other with mutual problems faced as immigrants. PROVENANCE:
