Subject Research Guide: Seminary/Theology
Finding Books :
For students taking classes on campus at North Park University, the easiest way to start finding books is to search the library catalog. (For help in searching the online catalog, see here.) Often, a subject search will give you more focused information on a topic. To perform a subject search, type a word into the catalog, and then select "Subject" in the box to the right.
Popular sample subject words in the area of theology:
- Church history
- Christianity and justice
- Evangelical Covenant Church
Many books on this subject can be found on the third floor of the library, but other subject areas will also be helpful.

Finding Database Articles:
All of these databases can be found under the Databases/Articles link on the left side of the page, and then in alphabetical order on the Databases A-Z list.
ATLA is the best database offered to find religious information. It covers a wide range of theological journals, books, and other publications.
JSTOR, a full-text article database, will provide helpful cultural information about different societies as well as also providing archeological information on religious topics.
Project Muse will also offer modern scholarly approaches to many theological topics, as well as cultural information.
