Professor of Music Emeritus Honored for Composition and Publishing


CHICAGO, IL (April 26, 2007) – Dr. Lee Burswold, emeritus professor of music at North Park University, was awarded the Association of Professional Orchestra Leaders Certificate of Achievement on Tuesday in recognition of his achievements in the fields of music composition and publishing.

The Association of Professional Orchestra Leaders strives to educate the public regarding the value of live musical entertainment in general, and professional orchestras specifically.

Burswold taught at North Park for 39 years full-time (1962-2001). Since retiring, he continues to teach in the School of Music on a part-time basis. He recently published a work for cello and string orchestra titled Festival, and regularly plays commercial, jazz, and ragtime piano in the Chicago area.
