Panelist and Author Soong-Chan Rah Explores Future of Global Church
CHICAGO, IL (June 21, 2010) – Soong-Chan Rah spoke as a panelist in 12 Cities | 12 Conversations at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, on June 10. Hosted by the Lausanne Movement, which brings together the global church to explore critical issues related to world evangelization, 12 Cities | 12 Conversations are free gatherings in strategic US cities that facilitate conversation among church leaders, authors, artists, social entrepreneurs, and Christian individuals, and aim to help unify a highly fragmented global church.
Professor Rah has also written a new book, Many Colors: Cultural Intelligence for a Changing Church, slated for release in September. The book helps equip evangelicals for ministry and outreach in a time of tremendous change in the nation’s demographics and religious landscape, and explores how God’s people can become more multiculturally adept, and minister more effectively in diverse settings.
Watch this short video, in which Professor Rah explores the future of the church and the “very exciting but challenging times ahead.” He characterizes this moment as “one of the most exciting times in church history”, and asks, “Are we going to be able to live up to these challenges and move into a holistic gospel that changes the individual and society?”
