Mary Chase-Ziolek joined the seminary faculty in 1999 as director of
health ministries, a new program that combines the disciplines of health
care, theology, and spirituality. She received her bachelor of arts
from Beloit College in 1974 and her bachelor of science in nursing from
Rush University in 1977. Her master of science in public health nursing
was awarded by the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1982. She completed
her doctorate in nursing at Loyola University Chicago in 1998. Her doctoral
dissertation was "Health Ministry in the Life of a Congregation
with a Parish Nurse." Chase-Ziolek was on the nursing faculty
of North Park College from 1982 to 1987 and later served as coordinator
of geriatric
health ministry at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from 1991 to 1999.
She has published extensively in journals of public health and parish
nursing and continues research and writing in the area of congregational
health care. She has developed the health ministries program of the
Seminary and has made resources and courses available in on-campus
intensive
and online formats. She and her family are members of North Park Covenant
Church.
