Seminary Librarian, Professor of Theological Bibliography

Norma Sutton joined the Seminary faculty in 1979 as assistant professor of theological bibliography. Her bachelor of science in nursing is from Goshen College and her master of divinity is from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries. Sutton received a master of arts in theology from the University of Notre Dame and a master of arts in librarianship from Emory University in 1979. She was promoted to associate professor in 1990 and full professor in 1998. She was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church in 2005. She is author of "Arise for It Is Day: John Day Imprints and the English Reformation, 1545-1559," The Journal of Religious and Theological Information (1993). During her recent sabbatical in England, she worked on various projects related to spirituality. Sutton is a member of both history/theology and spiritual formation fields and is the lead professor for the North Chicago Theological Institute annual course, "Prayer and Life in the Spirit," which deals with topics of interest in Christian spirituality and includes students from five seminaries in north Chicago and the northern suburbs.
