Application to the Nursing Program

The North Park nursing major is an academically rigorous program offering outstanding clinical experiences. Admission is selective and not all students who apply are admitted, even by meeting all requirements. We accept 48 students each fall (August) and spring (January) semester.

Application Process

1. Apply to North Park University (if you’re already an NPU student, go to Step 2.)

The School of Nursing reviews applications for acceptance into the nursing program from students who have been admitted to the university.  Indicate nursing as your intended major before you register for your first semester of classes.

High-ability, first-year students have a Direct Admission option to the nursing program. Contact the admissions office at admissions@northpark.edu if you have further questions.

How to Apply to North Park University

Transfer Students

We welcome transfer students to the nursing program.  However, we give priority to students who have taken more courses at North Park since this allows us to better assess the education you have received.

A transcript evaluation is required.  We accept transfer prerequisite courses, except for NURS 2100 Survey of Professional Nursing and NURS 3240 Pathophysiology courses, which must be completed at North Park. Most transfer students may apply to the nursing major within one year of starting classes at North Park.

A minimum North Park GPA and Science GPA of 2.75 on a scale of 4.00 is required. A C- grade is not acceptable. If a student earns a C- in one of the prerequisites, that course must be repeated but may not repeat more than two (2) nursing prerequisites; only one (1) of which can be a science course. Students should review the policy with their advisor in their first academic program meeting.

2. Apply to the Nursing Program

The application must be completed online one full semester before the intended start. Completion of all requirements and meeting with the pre-nursing advisor is required.

Application Deadline for Fall 2024: February 15, 2024

The online application is now open.

Nursing Program Application

To be eligible for an application review by the selection committee, a complete application packet must include the following supplemental items:

  • Resume
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and boosters
  • Recommendation: The student must provide the name and email address of a faculty member or health care professional who can speak to the student’s suitability for the nursing profession. The school will contact that individual with a recommendation request.
  • TEAS score at the Proficient level of preparedness (must have taken TEAS within one year of applying and will be required to enter the results on the online application)
