Our flexible cohort program allows you to build relationships that will enhance your learning and last into your ministry career. Depending on the program, you may apply courses in this 15-credit certificate to a full master’s degree at North Park Theological Seminary.

Cohort, Online, and In-Person Intensive Study

Utilizing the cohort learning model, 15 to 20 students complete the urban ministry certificate program together in just over two years, developing a committed community of urban practitioner peers. A blending of online learning throughout the year with one-week intensive courses allows you to continue serving while you study.

Course Schedule

This certificate is designed to be completed in three summer intensive courses, with two online courses during the academic year, for a total of 15 semester hours of academic credit.

Practical Training

In your first year, you’ll engage spiritual practices and developmental assessments. Your second year includes a pilgrimage to major sites of racial significance. Finally, your concluding intensive focuses exclusively on the practice of urban ministry, giving you opportunities to evaluate your own ministry setting and practices.

Admission Requirements

Submit an application by May 23, including essays, official transcripts, references, and a $25 non-refundable fee. If you’re accepted into the program, your tuition deposit must be received by June 15 to hold your place. Learn more.
