Music is a sacred element of worship in many Christian faith traditions, and music in worship spans traditional and contemporary styles, utilizing a wide range of instruments and voices. Ensemble Options

From classical to jazz to chamber to gospel, the School of Music offers ensemble choices for every student musician. Each group is conducted or coached by expert faculty, with regular opportunities for performing on- and off-campus. Most require auditions, though the Gospel Choir is open to any singer with a passion for contemporary spiritual and gospel music.

As a member of one of North Park’s signature ensembles you’ll perform throughout the year on- and off-campus. Special annual events include the Festival of Lessons and Carols, Gospel Choir concerts and tours, and Oratorio.

Certificate in Music for Social Change and Human Values

This new undergraduate certificate is the first of its kind in the nation, providing preparation for North Park music majors to teach through the El Sistema-inspired philosophy of music instruction. This certificate evolved from an ongoing collaboration with The People’s Music School, and is available in conjunction with any music degree program.
