Thailand: Bangkok, Roi-Et, and Chiang-Mai
Winter — $3,000
About the Trip
Travel with North Park Seminary Professor Paul DeNeui to visit various Christian communities in Thailand. This is truly a cultural immersion course, where the first week is focused on active learning alongside partners doing sustainable development in both urban and rural communities. The second week is focused on serving at a regional conference. Participants are paired with a language partner for the SEANET conference, and relationships flourish as students serve together. This trip can qualify for credit through the North Park Theological Seminary, or can be cross listed as an undergrad CORE 3000 course.
Partner: Serve Globally, North Park Theological Seminary, and various non-profit organizations
“At the end of our time in Bangkok, we were able to pray with Pastor Kahn for his church community and his members that were struggling. It was an eye-opening experience because of the way they pray. They gather around in the circle and everyone prays out loud, at the same time, yet on their own. It is not like what I experience and know back home, where we either take turns praying out loud or pray individually. One of the people that we prayed for was an epileptic Thai woman who was in bedrest at her home, being taken care of by her father. Even though there was a language barrier, we could see by her reaction how touched she was by our prayers.”
