Opening Reception and Artist Talk: Nnenna Okore

Join us in the Carlson Tower Gallery for the opening reception and Artist Talk with  Nnenna Okore as she discusses her work and exhibition.

Nnenna Okore is an artist-researcher-teacher who uses artistic practice, pedagogy and social engagements to address ecological issues. As an internationally acclaimed art practitioner, Okore has been involved in numerous participatory art projects and exhibitions designed to produce dialogue, artmaking and an awareness of current environmental issues. Working largely with eco-based materials, Okore uses food-based bioplastic materials to create delicate works of art that engender dialogue about waste reduction and sustainable practices in artmaking. Okore’s exhibit will be on display January 21st – March 4th in the Carlson Tower Gallery.

The Carlson Tower Gallery is free and open to the public Monday – Friday from 9am -9pm.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Policy

In accordance with City of Chicago mandates, North Park University has updated its public event attendance policy, effective January 5, 2022. This policy requires all non-North Park student/employee event attendees, age 5 and older, attending an indoor event hosted by North Park University to provide:

      1. Valid proof of full vaccination* against COVID-19 (boosters not required), OR
      2. Evidence from a medical professional of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48-hours of the event
        a. A positive test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 may be provided instead of a negative test. This result must show the sample was taken within 90 days of the event.

*Definition of fully vaccinated: 2 weeks after the second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

Checking Vaccination

Attendee needs a valid photo ID (age 16+), AND
i. Vaccination card OR
ii. Photocopy of vaccination card OR
iii. Digital record or app OR
iv. Printed record from vaccine provide

Checking negative test result

Attendee needs a valid photo ID (age 16+), AND
i. Valid proof of a negative test result within 48-hours of the event. Proof of result must include:

1. Type of test (e.g., PCR, antigen, NAAT)
2. Entity issuing the result (e.g., lab, healthcare entity, telehealth service)
3. Sample collection date within 2 calendar days of the event
4. Information that identifies the person (e.g., full name and at least one other identifier, such as DOB or address)
5. Test result must clearly read as negative or not detective
