Catie Hickey (she/her/hers) is a trombonist, educator, and arts advocate based in Chicago. Committed to expanding the role of the 21st-century musician, she co-founded the Taller de Trombones workshop in Panama in 2014. Ms. Hickey is a frequent guest of Trombonanza, Urubrass, and many other brass workshops in Latin America. At home in Chicago, Catie teaches low brass instruments, chamber music, and jazz improvisation at Loyola University-Chicago, North Park University, and DePaul University. A former touring member of the Foothills Brass Quintet, Ms. Hickey performs with groups ranging from Butter Chicken Baraat to the Joe Clark Big Band. As an orchestral performer, Catie has performed with the orchestras of St. Louis, Calgary, Rochester, Sinaloa, and numerous regional groups throughout the Midwest. Committed to improving access to music education in Chicago, Catie also serves on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations.
