Central Campus Site Preparation

As we cleared the site for the new Johnson Center for Science and Community Life, one of the more dramatic phases was the demolition of the apartment buildings on Christiana Avenue. Here are time-lapse videos showing the progress of the work over five days, sped up approximately 40 times.

Johnson Center Groundbreaking

October 26, 2012

A cool, dry autumn day was perfect for hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and supporters of the University to celebrate the groundbreaking with music and food near the construction site. President Parkyn commented that like the festival, the Johnson Center will be a central gathering place for the entire University community. A brief ceremony concluded with the Campaign Executive Committee turning shovels at the construction site.
