Dr. Christine Smith teaches from a Christian worldview and embraces the School of Nursing’s philosophy–that all people have intrinsic value and are worthy of respect. Health is experienced when we are in harmony with self, the environment, the community, and God.

Dr. Smith maintains a clinical practice at Lawndale Christian Health Center in Chicago, a federally qualified health center, where she provides comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan. In addition to her clinical practice, she serves on the mobile health team, providing medical care and support to individuals experiencing homelessness. Her commitment to compassionate, whole-person care reflects her dedication to serving diverse and underserved populations while promoting health and well-being within the broader community.

An advocate for the development of future nurse practitioners, Dr. Smith actively works with students as a mentor and clinical preceptor. Through these roles, she supports students in integrating classroom knowledge with clinical practice, developing clinical judgment and professional competence, and preparing nurse practitioners to serve diverse communities with excellence and compassion.
