Scandinavian Students
Students from Scandinavian countries may receive up to 30 semester hours of credit for high school coursework, allowing them to start as sophomores. Most degrees can be completed in three years, except for majors like athletic training, music education, and nursing.
Testing requirement
Scandinavian students are not required to submit SAT, ACT, or TOEFL scores. However, all new international students must take an English proficiency test during orientation. Based on results, some may need to take English courses to support their success at North Park.
Transcript evaluation and transfer credit
North Park evaluates transcripts from Scandinavian secondary schools—no external evaluation or translation is needed.
After receiving an application and transcripts, North Park provides a preliminary evaluation and an admission letter for Lånekassen (Norway) or CSN (Sweden). A report outlines the transfer credit granted. Norwegian students should review North Park’s specific transfer credit policy.
Admitted students must submit their final transcript upon graduation from high school. North Park will then complete a final review to confirm the preliminary evaluation.
Scholarships and grants
All admitted Scandinavian students receive a North Park Grant, which remains constant unless they move off campus, reducing the grant. It appears on the student bill as an International Student Grant.
Additional talent-based scholarships are available based on an audition or portfolio evaluation.
Academic policies and advising
The Academic Catalog provides complete information on degree requirements and academic policies. Students are expected to understand these requirements for their chosen major(s) or program(s).
Upon enrollment, students are assigned an academic advisor to help plan courses and ensure successful program completion.
To maintain legal visa status, students must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester). Norwegian students must take at least 15 credit hours per semester to receive full funding from Lånekassen.
