Rights and Responsibilities

 

As a student, you have the right to:

  • Know available financial aid options, including federal, state, and institutional programs.
  • Understand how your financial need is determined and how cost of attendance is calculated.
  • Request a review of your financial aid package and discuss any changes in circumstances that may affect it.
  • Know what portion of your aid is gift aid versus what must be repaid, including interest rates, total repayment amounts, and repayment plans.
  • Understand the process and criteria for continuing to receive financial aid.
  • Know actions that could affect your aid, such as:
  • Be informed about the disbursement method and schedule for your financial aid.

As a student, you have the responsibility to:

  • Complete the FAFSA annually for federal or state loans, work, or grants. Provide all required verification materials to the Financial Aid Office on time and ensure accuracy.
  • Pay institutional charges using your available financial aid and personal resources.
  • Review and understand the terms and conditions of your financial aid award.
  • Complete all requirements accurately and by the stated deadlines.
  • Notify the Financial Aid Office if you plan to enroll less than full-time, move off-campus, or receive an outside scholarship.
  • Read and understand all forms you are asked to submit or sign, as you are legally responsible for them.
