Who can park on campus:

  • Students, faculty, and staff need a parking permit.
  • Visitors (including alumni, parents, and guests) may park for free in the Foster and Kedzie lot at 5141 North Kedzie Avenue.
  • Event parking will be clearly marked with signs.

Parking permits

All vehicles parked on campus by students or employees must display a valid North Park parking permit.

Permits are available online. After purchase, they must be picked up at Campus Safety. A permit allows access to designated lots but does not guarantee a parking space.

 

How to get a permit

  • Visit the online Parking Portal.

  • Log in or create an account.

  • Provide the following:

    • Driver’s license number

    • Vehicle make, model, year, and license plate

    • Insurance information

    • Owner contact info (if not yourself)

    • Mailing address

  • Pay with a credit or debit card.

Note: Permits may not be resold, exchanged, or shared between vehicles. Parking permits must be displayed properly from the rearview mirror.

Parking permits are color coded. Park only in lots that match the color of your permit.

Enforcement hours

  • Parking permits are enforced Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Parking rules and violations

General rules

  • Permits must be clearly visible from the rearview mirror.

  • Vehicles must be operable and have current plates.

  • Unauthorized or abandoned vehicles may be ticketed or towed.

  • ADA spaces require a valid state-issued permit.

  • First-year resident students may not purchase campus parking permits.

Violations and fines

  • Failure to display a valid North Park parking permit — $50

  • Parking in the wrong designated lot — $50

  • Parking in a reserved or unauthorized space — $50

  • Parking in an ADA space without a valid permit — $100

  • Blocking a driveway or traffic lane — $50

Towing, appeals, and penalties

 

Paying fines

  • Fines may be paid online by credit card or in person with cash or check.

  • Students: Unpaid fines may be added to your student account.

 

Appeals

  • Appeals are available through Campus Safety.

 

Booting and towing

  • Vehicles may be booted or towed for unpaid tickets, repeated violations, or if creating a safety hazard.

  • Vehicles may also be relocated if blocking snow removal, construction, or emergency access.

Towing and storage costs are the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
