Francisco Lopez Malespin is a cellist and dedicated educator whose musical journey began in his native Brazil, a place that inspired his lifelong commitment to cello performance and musicianship.
He is the recipient of the prestigious Rita Simo Scholarship, which supported his undergraduate studies in Cello Performance at North Park, where he also earned a Certificate in Music for Social Change. He later pursued graduate studies at the DePaul University School of Music, receiving both a Master of Music degree and a Performance Certificate, made possible through the institution’s Performance Scholarship.
An active performer across the Midwest, Mr. Malespin recently completed a three-year tenure as a member and fellow of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In addition to his performance career, Malespin is a passionate and experienced teacher. He maintains a private cello studio in the northern suburbs of Chicago, where he works with students of all ages and backgrounds, fostering musical growth through personalized, student-centered instruction.
