Creative Writing at North Park

North Park’s creative writing concentration within the English major introduces you to diverse reading and writing in a range of styles. You’ll collaborate across creative disciplines, study the cultural and environmental influences on creativity, and draw inspiration from Chicago’s vibrant landscape. Studying creative writing will sharpen your critical reading, constructive feedback, and mastery of language—key to effective communication and problem-solving.

ENG 2050–Intro to Creative Writing
The study and practice of the major forms of creative writing. The course will be taught as a seminar, emphasizing the study of model texts and the development of students’ work.

ENG 3240–Modern Literature
A study of poetry, fiction, and drama from 1900 to 1950 with emphasis on innovative styles and techniques
