Current North Park students
Degree-seeking students can take summer session courses to fulfill degree, major, or elective credits. Register through “Student Planning” in Self-Service or via “Drop/Add Forms,” just like any other term.
For traditional undergraduate students, the easiest way to find summer courses is through “Course Catalog” in Self-Service, as most summer session courses meet core curriculum requirements. You do not need advisor approval to register for summer session courses.
To register:
- Go to “Course Catalog” in Self-Service and select your desired subject.
- Use the filter options on the left to limit the display to summer courses.
- Choose your course and add a section to your academic plan.
- Go to “My Plan and Schedule,” review your courses, and click “Register Now” to enroll.
Billing for the summer semester begins in mid-April.
Tuition, withdrawal, and refunds
Summer semester tuition is $680 per credit hour.
- Full refund: If you withdraw before your class starts, you will receive a full refund minus your tuition deposit.
- 50% refund: If you withdraw within the first seven calendar days of the class, you will receive a 50% refund on your tuition. For example, if your course starts on a Tuesday, you must withdraw by the end of the following Monday to receive the partial refund.
- No refund: Withdrawals after the first seven days are not eligible for a refund.
Auditing courses
Anyone can audit a summer session class at North Park University, regardless of admission or enrollment status. Auditors come from diverse backgrounds and audit courses for personal enrichment, though they do not receive academic credit.
If you want academic credit or plan to transfer the course, do not audit the class. North Park students wishing to audit should consult their advisor for any restrictions.
The audit fee is $50 per credit hour. Instructor approval is required to maintain a balanced class of auditors and for-credit students. Course descriptions will specify if auditors are allowed, but the final decision rests with the instructor.
