Kate Carter is a Chicago-based violinist who enjoys a varied career as a performer, recording artist, chamber music collaborator, teacher, and clinician.

A member of the Elgin Symphony and the Chicago Philharmonic, she also performs regularly with the Lyric Opera Orchestra, Joffrey Ballet, Fulcrum Point New Music Project, and many other groups in the Chicago area. In addition to North Park, Dr. Carter teaches violin at Northwestern University Music Academy and gives clinics and master classes regularly throughout the US. Dr. Carter holds degrees in music from Northwestern University and the Eastman School of Music. A California native, she is proud to call Chicago her adopted hometown.
