Course Reserves Collection
Purpose
To provide equitable, short-term access to high-demand materials already owned by the library.
How it Works
-
Faculty identify material in the library’s collection that will be needed by multiple students in their course.
-
Faculty requests the material to be placed on Course Reserve via email to library@northpark.edu or using our Ask Us form.
-
Items are made available at the library’s front desk for two-hour, first-come, first-served use.
-
Items are removed from Course Reserve at the conclusion of the semester. Faculty must re-request material if it will be needed again for a future semester.
Important Limitations
-
The library will not purchase items specifically for Course Reserves.
-
If the library does not own the material, faculty may donate a legally purchased copy (to be owned by the library).
Email library@northpark.edu with any questions regarding course reserves.
Textbook Support Program
The library coordinates with the University Dean, the Dean of Students, the Registrar, and the Office of Financial Aid to provide additional support for select classes with demonstrated effects on student success and persistence.
How it Works
Courses are selected in collaboration with the Registrar and Dean of Students.
Eligible courses receive:
-
A library copy placed on reserve to be shared by enrolled students when feasible, or
-
Financial assistance for eligible students (determined by the Office of Financial Aid) if a shareable copy is not possible.
Important Limitations
-
Not all courses are eligible
-
Faculty cannot request inclusion in the program
-
Faculty teaching eligible courses must qualify for the program by submitting their textbook information to the Online Bookstore by the deadline established by the University Dean.
