Student Care Program

The Student Care Program offers limited financial assistance to currently enrolled students experiencing financial difficulties while attending North Park University. Students can apply for the Student Care Program to help with temporary or ongoing financial hardships.

Student Care Program Application

Students needing financial assistance can apply for the Student Care Program by submitting the online application.

You may upload supporting documentation on the application to support your request. Supporting documentation may include medical bills, eviction notices, police reports, utility or other bills, or similar documents or receipts. Student Care can advise students on the documentation to support their application.

Eligible North Park students may receive up to $1000 per academic year. Students may submit multiple applications per academic year. North Park determines award amounts by need, and they are subject to the availability of funds.

Students receiving funds for new purchases or reimbursements must provide receipts within 30 days of fund disbursement. Students are required to submit medical bills before fund disbursement.

The Student Care Program Committee reviews completed applications. A committee member will respond to the application submission within 3–4 business days.

The Student Care Program is not a substitute for financial aid or student loans. Students must explore all financial aid and student loan options before being considered for the Student Care Program.

Any North Park student may apply for the Student Care Program. Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for financial assistance:

  • A current and active student (not available during any breaks in studies or leaves of absence), regardless of program
  • Studying full- or part-time
  • Able to show a reasonable effort to cover expected living costs, if applicable
  • Must have explored all other possible financial resources, including student loans

The Student Care Program is available to help with the following costs. This list is not exhaustive.

  • Medical costs
  • Food
  • Essential/basic household necessities
  • Essential travel
  • Childcare costs
  • Rent and other essential utilities
  • Emergency or temporary housing assistance
  • Emergency transportation costs related to a family death or illness
  • Safety related needs (i.e. changing a lock)
  • Replacement of essential personal belongings due to fire, flood, theft, or natural disaster

The following includes examples of expenses that the Student Care Program does not cover.. This list is not exhaustive.

  • Tuition, fees, room and board, other fees/fines imposed by the university
  • Student loan repayments
  • Parking/speeding tickets, library fines, or other expenses mistakenly incurred
  • Costs for entertainment, recreation, or non-emergency travel
  • Non-essential utilities or bills
  • Replacement of non-essential personal items due to fire, flood, theft or natural disaster

North Park is here to provide help with access to essential services that impact overall health and well-being. Other financial resources include access to nutritious food, stable housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, and other financial resources.
