University Ministries

At North Park, students come from many backgrounds and beliefs—but we share a desire to grow into who God created us to be and make a meaningful difference in the world. University Ministries is here to support that journey by helping students integrate their faith with how they learn, live, and lead.

Our Mission

To engage the North Park community with God’s story and to equip leaders to extend God’s Kingdom—locally, nationally, and globally. We do this through worship, service, discipleship, and partnerships that reflect our diverse and vibrant campus.

Our Vision

Engage. Equip. Extend.

  • Engage with God’s story through worship, conversations, and community.
  • Equip students to lead with faith, integrity, and wisdom.
  • Extend God’s love and justice through meaningful service at home and around the world.

University Ministries invites you into a vibrant, Christ-centered community where faith is active, leadership is nurtured, and every student is supported in becoming who God has called them to be.

Worship

Experience Christ-centered, Spirit-filled worship each week in community. Whether at Chapel or CollegeLife, our gatherings are dynamic and diverse, drawing on worship traditions from across cultures. Come grow in love for God, one another, and the world.

Chapel, Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. | Anderson Chapel
Join students, faculty, staff, and guest speakers for worship that includes music, prayer, and engaging biblical teaching.

CollegeLife
An informal worship experience led by students—who comprise worship, prayer, hospitality, and media services teams. Student worship teams lead the North Park community into a posture of worship and praise at both Chapel and CollegeLife. Singers and instrumentalists come together to worship in various styles and languages.

Grow

Faith grows in community. University Ministries creates spaces where you can encounter Jesus and be transformed—through discipleship, prayer, and LifeGroups.

Discipleship
Discipleship is the daily journey of becoming more like Jesus—both in relationship with God and in community with others. Whether in worship, small groups, or service, we’re being formed into Christ’s image together. Learn more about our first-year discipleship cohort, Crux.

LifeGroups
Smaller communities (4–10 students) centered on growing in faith together. Each LifeGroup is different—some study Scripture, others focus on prayer, books, or shared interests—but all aim to deepen your walk with Christ and one another.

Prayer Ministry
We believe prayer is essential to life with God. Join our student-led Prayer Team or visit the prayer room in the Johnson Center—open to students, faculty, and staff seeking quiet space for reflection and prayer.

Serve

Live out your faith through action. We offer hands-on opportunities to serve others and pursue justice across the city, nation, and globe.

Sankofa Experience
A transformative journey of racial justice and reconciliation. Through readings, discussions, and a 60-hour bus pilgrimage to historic civil rights sites, students confront our nation’s past and explore what it means to become a beloved community. Offered in partnership with North Park Theological Seminary and supported by a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment.

Global Partnerships
Where faith, learning, and service meet. Each year, students, faculty, and staff serve with partners across the globe—from local disaster relief to the Zulu Hills of South Africa. Discover what matters most to God by seeing the world through a Kingdom lens.

Athletic Ministries
Student-athletes grow spiritually through team chaplain relationships, Bible studies, and discipleship. Learn how to integrate your faith into your sport and your everyday life—becoming not just a better athlete, but a faithful, impactful leader.

Urban Outreach
Urban Outreach connects students, faculty, and staff with meaningful service opportunities throughout Chicago. Whether you’re passionate about food justice, refugee support, tutoring, or advocacy, we’ll help you find the right fit for your schedule and interests.
