Bilingual Endorsement

Earn Your Bilingual Endorsement

In the highly competitive field of education, this credential will set you apart as a teacher ready for specialized classrooms, or to incorporate these skills into any school setting. North Park’s bilingual endorsement program will advance your career and make you a more effective teacher.

Our program will help you meet the requirements for earning this endorsement: a valid professional Illinois teacher license; bilingual clinical experience totaling 100 clock hours, or three months, teaching experience in bilingual programs; successful completion of a language exam in the non-English language to be taught; and credits totaling 18 semester hours from among the course topics we offer.

Practical Training

In the bilingual endorsement program, you will gain hands-on classroom experience in ESL and bilingual settings; explore the relationship between language and society; learn assessment techniques of ESL and bilingual students; and examine multicultural and socioeconomic activity.

Upon completion of the endorsement, you’ll understand bilingual education methods in both theory and practice, and be able to serve as an effective teacher in the bilingual classroom setting.
