Jasmine AlcalaAssistant Athletic Trainer
Jasmine Alcala graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in athletic training prior to coming to North Park University. While a graduate education student at North Park, she worked as the graduate assistant athletic trainer for the football and track & field teams. After completing this program, she joined the Vikings athletic training staff full time as assistant athletic trainer. Her responsibilities in this position include providing athletic training services to the football, men's basketball, and golf teams. She is also serves as a preceptor and practicum instructor for the Athletic Training Education Program, and is staff advisor for the Athletic Training Student Association.
Alyssa AndersonAssistant Professor of Athletic Training and Clinical Education Coordinator
No stranger to North Park, Alyssa Anderson graduated from the University's athletic training program and was a member of the Viking throwing team as an undergrad. She went on to earn her MS in athletic training from Ohio University while serving as head athletic trainer at Warren Local High School in Vincent, Ohio. Alyssa now teaches Therapeutic Interventions and practica courses, and serves as primary athletic trainer for the softball team.

Brian DonohueAssociate Team Physician
Brain Donohue, D.O. is a Board-Certified physician in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. He graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and then completed his Family Medicine Residency at Resurrection Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Donohue then continued his training at Resurrection in the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
In addition to helping care for North Park's student-athletes, Dr. Donohue serves as the team physician at multiple local high schools. He also is a covering physician for various Chicagoland endurance events including the Chicago Marathon, Shamrock Shuffle, and ITU Triathlon World Championships. Dr. Donohue serves as an associate director for both the Resurrection Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and the Family Medicine Residency.
Cody GibsonGraduate Assistant Athletic Trainer
Cody joined North Park in August 2015 to serve as the graduate assistant athletic trainer for women’s volleyball, cross country, track and field, and women’s tennis. He graduated from the University of the Pacific with a BS in athletic training in May 2014 after spending three years in an associate of science athletic training program at Modesto Junior College. After completing his work at Pacific, he worked at both Modesto Junior College and Golden Bear Physical Therapy.
Program Director, Associate Professor
Andrew first came to North Park in 1996 as head athletic trainer. In 2000, Andrew he became athletic training program director, overseeing the Athletic Training Educational Program (ATEP).

Head Athletic Trainer
Eric joined North Park in 2009 as assistant athletic trainer. He primarily provides services for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, and baseball. He also serves as a clinical instructor and teaches two practicum courses.

Aimee OstranderGraduate Assistant Athletic Trainer
Aimee joined North Park in August of 2015 to serve as the graduate assistant athletic trainer for football and to assist with the daily operation of all athletic training services. She earned a BS in athletic training from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh where she served several football teams during clinicals, including UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater, as well as completing an internship with Lawrence University. She is now working toward a master of higher education administration at North Park University.
Medical Director, Head Team Physician
Dr. Poonam Thaker, MD, has been the North Park athletic training medical director and head team physician since 2009. She also serves as the director of sports medicine fellowship at Resurrection Medical Center.
