About the Director

Pier Rogers, Director of the Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management at North Park UniversityPier Rogers, Ph.D. assumed the position of Director of The Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management on March 1, 2007. Dr. Rogers replaced Melissa Morriss-Olson, Ph.D., who founded The Center in 1999 and continued as director through August 2006.

Dr. Rogers has spent over 25 years in the nonprofit field and has been active in the nonprofit research community nationally since the early 1990s. Prior to coming to the Axelson Center she served as the associate executive director of the National Association of Social Workers, New York City Chapter. She has taught extensively at various institutions including Yale (PONPO), Fordham University, and for seven years full-time at the New School University, Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy as an assistant professor.

Rogers has a Ph.D. from New York University in organizational theory, urban analysis, and managerial analysis, a master's degree in social work and Afro-American studies from Boston University, and a B.A. in philosophy and political science from Wellesley College. She has presented and published broadly in the field of nonprofit management.
