Hailing from Chicago, Alex Beltran has been called “a saxophonist of impeccable musicianship” by Chicago Jazz Magazine. Beltran attended both Indiana University and DePaul University. After his studies, he returned to Chicago quickly made himself an active member of the music scene in the city and the region. His group, Merge, has released two albums of original modern jazz. Beltran has performed in both large and small venues across the country, solo and with artists such as Jeff Hamilton, Phil Woods, Tim Ries, Ira Sullivan, Luis Bonilla, John Fedchok, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, and the Chicago Yestet. In addition to performing, he is proud to be a Vandoren Performing Artist and maintains an active teaching schedule, helping a younger generation discover the beauty of music.
