Bruce Daugherty

Trumpet player Bruce Daugherty has been a core member of the Millar Brass Ensemble since 1991 and is recorded on their last nine cd releases as well as their last nine EP releases. He received his Master of Music degree from Northwestern University.

Daugherty is associate band director and private trumpet instructor at New Trier High School. He was also the Chamber Brass Coach at Midwest Young Artists for 15 years. Quintets he has coached have been selected to participate in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and he was co-director of MYA’s Big Bands. In addition, Daugherty founded Brassmeisters at Elgin Community College.

Daugherty has played principal and section parts with several orchestras, including: Lincoln Opera, Elgin Symphony, Illinois Chamber Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, Northwest Indiana Symphony, South Bend Symphony, Lake Forest Symphony, among others. He has studied with Arnold Jacobs, Barbara Butler, and Vincent Cichowicz, among others.
