Dr. Julia Davids brings her expertise in conducting, vocal performance, and music education. She directs the University Choir and Chamber Singers, and teaches courses towards earning a music education degree.
Faith is the lens through which she sees everything in music—from the repertoire through the teaching process through how we interact—faith is the organizing principle.
As the director of choral activities, Dr. Davids ensures students are performing regularly with experience on campus and around Chicago. According to Dr. Davids, the choirs are featured in the Fall Choral Concert, the Service of Lessons and Carols, the Hymn Festival, and national and international tours.
Dr. Davids is a soprano soloist, avid performer, and recitalist specializing in early music. She’s a proud founding member of the Canadian Chamber Choir, Canada’s national choral ensemble providing a professional-level choral environment for Canadian singers, conductors, and composers. As artistic director of the group since 2004, Dr. Davids led the ensemble on concert and workshop tours of Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan and directed their debut recording, In Good Company. Dr. Davids is currently the music director of the North Shore Choral Society, a 140-voice community choir in Chicagoland. She also serves as director of music ministries at Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilmette, Illinois.
“Something I wish for my students after they graduate from North Park,” says Dr. Davids, “is that their lives will include music and singing, especially singing that serves their communities.”
