Dr. Timothy O’Brien has served in a variety of roles in commercial, nonprofit, and faith-based organizations. These roles include work as an educator, teaching nonprofit management at North Park University, Saybrook Institute, JFK University, and The Spertus Institute; and also as a practitioner and consultant working with nonprofit organizations in financial management, strategic planning, and leadership.

O’Brien has conducted workshops internationally and wrote a textbook titled “Financial Management for Nonprofit Organizations.” He also serves on the vestry and as treasurer at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Evanston. O’Brien was on the founding board of directors for Passionists International, an NGO at the United Nations.

O’Brien currently serves as director of the Academy of Church Leadership at North Park University, a newly formed initiative funded by the Lilly Endowment. The mission of the academy is to provide formal academic education and professional development programs for pastoral leaders in all areas of church administration and leadership.
