UIC and NPU Athletic Training Partnership
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition and North Park University (NPU) developed a partnership to enroll UIC College of Applied Health Sciences graduates and/or alumni in NPU’s Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program through an admission partnership agreement.
Criteria for Admission
- NPU reserves 2 spaces in the MSAT cohort every year for UIC College of Applied Health Sciences (CAS) students/alumni. Potential candidates are identified by the UIC Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition faculty. Any UIC CAS student, above and beyond the 2 reserved spaces, will receive the same opportunity for acceptance into NPU’s MSAT program as any other applicant via the Athletic Training Centralized Application Service (ATCAS) system.
- All prerequisites for NPU’s MSAT may be completed at UIC. Transfer credits approved by UIC to meet the associated course requirements are also permitted.
- NPU will retain its criteria for admission and includes:
- An earned bachelor’s degree from UIC (by MSAT start date)
- Overall GPA of 3.0 (4-point scale) or better
- A “C” or better in all required pre-requisite courses
- Current CPR/AED certification
- 50 observational hours approved by an athletic trainer
- Completion of Technical Standards Agreement
- Resume and personal statement
- (1) letter of recommendation must be from the certified athletic trainer who supervised the majority of the applicant’s observational hours.
