Dr. Terree Shofner-Emrich teaches courses and lessons predominately in piano, but also works with the School of Music, Art, and Theatre’s Opera Workshop and accompanies and coaches graduate students in opera, oratorio, and art song courses.
Shofner-Emrich’s career as a pianist, conductor, teacher, and coach spans a wide array of the music world. She is a pianist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Chorus and is Music of the Baroque’s regular accompanist. She has performed extensively in the United States and internationally. She coaches professional singers, directed the Chicago Redhots, and coached pop/rock musician Sting for a day. Shofner-Emrich made her operatic conducting debut in Chicago in 1998 conducting Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Riders to the Sea” and the world-premiere of Philip Seward’s “Spreading the News.”
