Seminary Professor Authors Book of the Year

Klyne Snodgrass

CHICAGO, IL (January 28, 2009) – Christianity Today has named Klyne Snodgrass’s book, Stories with Intent: A Comprehensive Guide to the Parables of Jesus, as the 2009 Book of the Year in the Biblical Studies category.

Snodgrass is the Paul W. Brandel professor of New Testament Studies at North Park Theological Seminary. He has taught at the school since 1974.

The book covers all of Jesus’ 35 parables and runs more than 800 pages, nearly 200 of which are endnotes. “I didn’t want it to be this long,” Snodgrass admitted last year in a Covenant News Service online article. “It took way longer than I thought. The process takes on its own life.”

Judges declared, "This is a superb culmination of career-long reflection on one of the most important genres in biblical literature. Readers will be deeply impressed by Snodgrass's exposition, his command of the relevant scholarship in the field, and the lucid quality of his analysis."
