Planning Your Arrival to Campus

Welcome to North Park!

We would like to welcome you and your family to campus and our orientation programs. Below you will find information about your arrival to campus, some of which is specific to particular cohorts and athletic teams. Additionally, all new students will participate in Threshold: New Student Orientation. Threshold is a long-standing North Park tradition designed to help you have a successful first year.

Traditional Undergraduate Students

Threshold is much more than just a weekend—it’s your whole experience of making the transition to North Park. Use these pages to explore everything you’ll need to know so you can dive right in when you arrive as a new student. A few key dates to note:

Online Orientation will be available late July/early August.  Further information will be sent to you during the summer.

Move-in & check-in for new resident students will be Wednesday, August 19, Thursday, August 20, & Friday, August 21. You will receive an individual email from Residence Life and Housing detailing the date and time for you to move into campus housing.

Threshold Orientation is Saturday, August 22–Sunday, August 23.

Commuter Students

North Park’s commuter students are an integral part of our campus community. Use the time during Threshold: New Student Orientation to get to know your future classmates, the campus, and get ready for a great year at North Park. A few key dates to note:

Online Orientation will be available late July/early August. Further information will be sent to you during the summer.

Commuter check-in will be Monday, August 17th, 1 pm–4 pm and Tuesday, August 18th, 9 am–12 pm at the Johnson Center.

Threshold Orientation, Saturday, August 22–Sunday, August 23.

Athletes

Coaches will communicate further information about your arrival to campus pertaining to your respective sport. Check back soon for details.

CRUX Students

CRUX: an intentional, transformational living-learning cohort where first-year students will experience Christ formed in them & participate in the revealed and unfolding Kingdom of God.

Arrive: 11 am, Monday, August 17th

Music Students

Students who have auditioned and been accepted into the School of Music, Art, and Theatre are required to take placements in music theory/aural skills and keyboard skills prior to registering for music courses.

Music Arrival Schedule

COMPASS Students

COMPASS is an intensive six-day program that precedes first-year student orientation and helps first-year students prepare for the academic and social challenges of college while adjusting to life on campus. COMPASS 2020 will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams, August 13–20.

COMPASS program participants will receive correspondence from Student Engagement and Office of Admissions staff prior to the program start date of August 13, 2020.

International Students

International Student Orientation will be online and will be available in early August. Students who are able to arrive on campus should also participate in Threshold Orientation which will take place August 22–23.

  • International students coming from abroad who are able to obtain flights to the U.S. should plan to arrive on August 10. Check your email for details!
  • New international students arriving from within the U.S. should plan to move-in during your designated move-in date and time based on your housing assignment. This will be emailed to you.
  • New international student-athletes will receive arrival information from their coaches.

International students who anticipate a late arrival to campus (after August 24) should communicate with International Admissions. Find more information for international students here.
