Dr. Carolyn Poterek received both master’s and doctoral degrees from North Park University. She teaches in the School of Education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has also taught in Chicago Public Schools.

“Every student is valued as they enter my classroom, and their distinctive backgrounds bring value to the learning that transpires in my classes. I integrate what it means for my students as future educators to value each of the students that will be in their classes in the years to come,” she says.

As a North Park alumna, Poterek is grateful for the professors and friends who encouraged and supported her pursuit to be an educator. She hopes that each of her students “will experience the joy of teaching as they serve each of their students wherever their teaching career may take them.”
