With over 20 years of teaching and administrative leadership in elementary education, Dan Walsh specializes in school administration, educational leadership, and principal mentorship. He appreciates how the School of Education focuses on the whole person, supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of its students. Professor Walsh is passionate about supporting his students as growing leaders and servants to their community.
While engaging his students in collaborative, hands-on learning, Professor Walsh also encourages them to take advantage of the rich cultural assets of North Park’s urban setting. “Involvement in our neighborhood and the greater Chicago land area is critical to instilling values within our students, promoting citizenship, and investing in the future of the city we share.”
A leader in both the classroom and the campus community, Professor Walsh emulates North Park’s Christian values and strives to model for his students a life of significance and service. “I share my experiences and my faith journey with students as appropriate to assure them that we are not alone as leaders in education. Our core values are what makes us strong, and we need to embrace our values and our faith to endure the daily challenges of being a leader.”
Outside of teaching, Dan enjoys playing guitar in his band. He says he is inspired by the quote, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” – Thoreau
