Timothy Reed

Licensure Officer and Graduate Advisor

Timothy Reed works to ensure each student graduates prepared to teach in a classroom, “but also fulfill God’s call in their personal life.”

Reed brings real world experiences into his classrooms. He combines theory with exercise, demonstrating how classes don’t always go as planned and understands that students might not always be engaged, so he prepares future educators for that.

“I would hope that students who take my class and graduate from North Park University spend every day of their life continuing to learn,” he says. Reed also understands and hopes to communicate that teaching is not about stuffing others with knowledge, rather, being a teacher is holistic, and teachers must try to understand each student and where they come from to cultivate a learning environment.

Experiential learning is something he values, “Making sure that teachers don’t limit themselves to their classroom and the four walls is key to teaching effectively.” Reed hopes that the future educators he builds up, become teachers who inspire their students and teach in new ways to create memorable experiences as his teachers have done for him.
