Become an AGNP
Earn your master’s degree in advanced practice nursing and become an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner (AGNP) in primary care. As our population ages, the need for specialized caregivers and health professionals grows, with positions available in hospitals, clinics, community centers, and organizations of many kinds. As an AGNP you’ll be prepared to answer your patient’s questions and create care plans that understand the unique needs that face adults as they age. You’ll develop valuable skills through classroom and clinical experience and be prepared to advance your career.

Dr. Trudy DeWaters
Dr. Trudy DeWaters incorporates her research focus on gerontology and her belief that spirituality, faith, and care are important in nursing practice into hands-on learning opportunities for her students.
State-of-the-Art Simulation Lab
Opened in 2012, the Kathy J. Holmgren Nursing Simulation Laboratory provides hands-on opportunities for students to practice treating patients in a safe environment. Our 3,000-square-foot facility includes four rooms that simulate a clinical setting equipped with the latest medical technology, and three rooms dedicated to skills development. Students practice techniques on actors and high fidelity mannequins who simulate different health scenarios. Audio and video recording capabilities allow students to review their work and receive direct feedback from faculty.

Convenient evening schedule
Graduate nursing core courses start as early as 4:30 PM and all other classes start at 5:00 PM or later in the evening. The complete program is offered at our main campus in Chicago that is easily accessible by car and public transits. You’ll be able to continue working in your current role, drawing valuable connections between your classroom and practicum experiences and your nursing practice.
