The Academy of Church Leadership

Alumna Spotlight: Latonya Latimore

Latonya LatimoreLatonya Latimore, a Chicago native, was looking for a program close to home that would support the work of the youth and children’s ministry program that she and her daughter had just founded. She noted, “When doing my research for nonprofit programs, I was drawn to North Park’s ability to offer online courses and Top 10 listing for nonprofit management education with a certificate in church administration.”

Her education received at the School of Business and Nonprofit Management helped her not only in her line of nonprofit work but also in the for-profit sector as the ambassador of giving for KPMG in Chicago where she raised $2.4 million for nonprofit organizations throughout the country. She noted that the knowledge gained in the program was useful right away and that she was able to restructure her church council. In referencing her nonprofit-specific courses, she highlights learning “how to provide structure and keep organizations relevant in an ever-changing world where social media and giving has become a challenge due to quickly changing technology. The professors are well versed in the laws and changes that take place. The courses aid you in becoming strategic when planning goals for your organization for years to come.”

Latimore currently works for KPMG LLP as an executive assistant, is the executive pastor of Christ Kingdom Ministry and executive director of the soon to be reorganized Heavenly Souls for the Soles Ltd. She lives in Richton Park, Illinois.
