Honduras
Spring Break – $2,500
About the Trip
Serve for a week in rural Honduras putting on medical and dental clinics and assisting with public health projects. NPU sends a group of students to Honduras to participate in a medical, dental, and water brigade. Global Brigades hosts the students in a secure Honduran compound which facilitates meaningful cultural integration.
Partner: Global Brigades
Mission statement:
To empower volunteers and under-resourced communities to resolve global health and economic disparities and inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world.
Global Brigades is the largest, student-led movement for global health, and North Park has proudly partnered with them for five years with medical, public health, dental, and water brigades. All their programs seek to sustainably develop and empower the people in the nations in which they are active.
Student Testimony
“These last two years I embarked on my journey to Honduras, and this medical and public health brigade has changed my view on the world. We started the week by opening a dental and medical clinic working alongside Honduras doctors and community health workers. The second half of the week, the families we worked with welcomed us in as part of their own, always offering us what little food they had. And even though in nine days we accomplished great things, there is so much more to be done in these rural communities of Honduras. My eyes have been opened to the poverty that exists in the world and their struggle to obtain basic needs. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity through Global Partnerships and Global Brigades to serve the country of Honduras.”
