Educational Effectiveness

North Park Theological Seminary regularly assesses the educational effectiveness of student learning in each degree program. Per accreditation requirements addressing educational effectiveness, we are here providing a summary of some basic measures. Additional information is available upon request to the academic dean.

Two common indicators of educational effectiveness in higher education are completion rates and the placement of graduates. Of students who began their studies between the 2004–2005 and 2006–2007 academic years, between 50 and 80 percent have successfully completed their academic programs, with 2 to 12 percent still working toward completion.

The following student testimonials also attest to the effectiveness of a North Park Theological Seminary education:

Joel Johnson, Master of Divinity, Class of 2012

“North Park Theological Seminary's master of divinity program combines the rigor of a graduate academic program with a transformative community of support. I was able to form a strong pastoral identity that has enabled me to minister to a congregation and to teach and preach with clarity and confidence. It truly has been an education for the head, heart, and hands; and the learning continues!”

Kelly Gillan Johnston, Master of Divinity, Class of 2011

“I chose to study at North Park Theological Seminary because I wanted to grow intellectually and vocationally in a nurturing community. My expectations were met day after day in ways I couldn't have imagined, in the classroom and out of the classroom. My professors helped me build a solid biblical and theological foundation, always with God's people in view. My colleagues helped me become a better person and disciple of Jesus Christ. As a pastor serving a local church, I know that I will always be growing and learning, but NPTS helped me discover what kinds of questions are worth asking and the relationships and resources that will help me find answers to build up the kingdom of God.”
