SVF News

SVF originally started as a Jönköping’s School – and Bible Institute in 1919. That year there were 50 applicants where of 35 students was accepted. Despite the fact that the location was Trädgårdsgatan 41 where the rooms were small and not even finished for school start, the 35 students began their semester on October 6 after SVF hand taken over the new building on October 1, 1919.

In 1922 the school decided to change its name to Jonkoping’s Kristliga Folkhögskola (JKF) but finally decided to change it once again to Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola (SVF) which it is also name to this day.

In May 2009 SVF celebrated its 90th Birthday which stretched over a week with various celebrations. Ninety years can be seen as a short or a long time depending on from what perspective it is seen from. Ninety years historically is not much, but if you think of ninety years with memories from generations of students – it exceeds more than ninety years.
